One of the best things to do is rent a car (for about 30 bucks the whole day) and drive around the island. It allows more freedom and more time to do what you want. Also check out the Dolphin show at the Marina near Palma. If you have kids, they'll love it.

we went to cala do'r mallorca which better suits families and people just out for a bit of down time. There are a lot of lovely restaurants around so self-catering is probably the best option, and theres lots for the children to do.

always follow the coastal road when driving into palma from either direction, the best parking is underground and found when you reach the monastry walls next to the lake,more or less opposite the entrance to the port police take the train from palma to soler,great for a day out with the kids and not expensive
