Basque Country Dos and Don'ts
Travel Tips for Dos and Donts in Basque CountryBermeo, Basque Country, Spain Go down to the harbour for tapas and to watch the boats. Good tip? ( viele bands, feuerwerke, usw... Good tip? (0) Donostia-San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain A very good reason to travel to Donostia is to witness the football festival on the weekend of the derby between locals Real Sociedad and neighbours Athletic Bilbao. There will be singing, drinking, and playing football in the narrow streets and small plazas of the old town, right before fans of both colours walk together to the stadium of Anoeta in one loud procession. Of course, we'll have to wait for Real Sociedad to reclaim their place in Spain's Primera Division first... Good tip? (0) Donostia-San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain For such a small beach town, San Sebastian really has a fun night life. Keep your eyes out during the day while walking to the beaches (we stayed quite a bit inland in a beautiful pension) for people passing out flyers with information and even coupons for restaurants and clubs throughout San Sebastian. All the places we visited based on the flyers turned out to be fun and interesting. There's a chicken rotiserie restaurant right by the main "boardwalk" beach area that we found out about in just this way, and it was particularly delightful. Nice atmosphere and great food. Good times had by all. Good tip? (0) Donostia-San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain One of the most amazing places I've ever been! San Sebastian is a hidden gem in tourism. I lived there for five weeks on a teaching english programme and it has been the best experience of my life. Beaches, a fantastic city, reasonably cheap for food and drink - which as it happens is fantastic - and the Basque culture in San Sebastian makes this place a must see. I know I'm certainly going back again next year! Good tip? (0) Top Cities in Basque Country |
