Have lunch in the old port section of the city. There are great, family-run restaurants that serve amazingly fresh seafood and great paella! Also, the palace set on the cliffs is very pretty.

Travel Tips from people who've been to Cantabria Region
Have lunch in the old port section of the city. There are great, family-run restaurants that serve amazingly fresh seafood and great paella! Also, the palace set on the cliffs is very pretty. Good tip? (+1) There is a lot of nightlife in the city and during the summer it centers around Plaza Cañadío where many people gather to meet and drink in the plaza. Clubs/Bars stay open much later than most in the United States and many people bar hop around starting at bars, moving to dancing bars, and around 3am going to actual clubs. These stay open for a few hours and there are further clubs that are after hours. It's a long night so I suggest pacing yourself if you are drinking and making sure to save money for a taxi if you are not in walking distance because the buses may not be running. Good tip? (0) A beautiful port city on the northern coast of Spain full of vibrant colors. In the early 1900's Santander became the favored summer residence of King Alfonso XIII, the city gained great popularity from this and from the Victorian enthusiasm for sea bathing and it remains popular with the Spanish for beach holidays today.
