Great and beautiful city. Lot of places to visit (including Human Heritage medieval Cathedral) cultural and social exciting enviroment. Lot of night life, clubbing or just a beer in a relaxing enviroment. Shopping is also a good choice because there´s lot of shops and 3 shoppingcenters. Good location just 2 hours from Madrid with High Speed train or Plane. Other two hours to the north coast of Spain, close to high mountains and winter resources. Leon has a famous modern art museum MUSAC wich building won the Mies Van der Roeh price for its architechtural design. Leon, always a good choice.

Leon is a very nice place where apart of tourism you can find many places for tapas and having fun. Do not forget to visit Las Medulas an incredible place and if you have time I will recommend you to go to Astorga to eat a cocido maragato!!!

Any visit to Leon must include a stop at the Cathedral de Leon, perhaps the best remaining example of Medieval architecture in Spain. Many of it's windows reach 100 feet in height and contain original 13th century stained glass. The Cathedral is also a treasure trove of outstanding pieces of art.

Want to get off the beaten track and away from the tourists while still experiencing Spain ? Want to brush up on your Espanol? Go north. I spent a month living with a host family and taking a Spanish course in Leon , Spain . I can't say enough about this beautiful city. It's not too well known by foreigners, and it was amazingly difficult but surprisingly refreshing because not a lot of people spoke English. The night life is fantastic mainly because of the younger crowd from the Universidad de Leon. The Barrio Humedo is one of the best areas to enjoy a night out. The translation is usually rendered as the wet district, a reference both to the large number of bars and clubs packed into a small area and to the copious quantities of alcohol and tapas consumed inside :) The Cathedral is one of the finest I've seen in Europe with its unusual features including mismatched towers and steeples. It's best feature though is its stained glass- more then 250 windows including a large rose window. The old town is surrounded by an old Roman wall, while the new town is bustling with people and shops, shops, shops. Leon also lies along the Camino de Santiago so there are lots of fascinating people tramping through town. Beautiful city and beautiful people off the beaten track:)

Spain is awesome because you can combine a night out with your dinner with tapas bars. For each drink, you get your selection of a yummy appetizer. Tapas also allow you to sample a wide variety of local foods unique to Spain or the specific region. yum!

The Romanesque frescoes at Real Colegiata de San Isidoro are the best in Spain and probably the most interesting ones in Europe for their period.
