Travel Tips from people who've been to Extremadura Region
Caceres has a very old city centre. alltough botellon is forbidden, there are still some places to go, even with special shuttel buses from de city government. interacting with the spaniards is very easy and they are always friendly and courteous. In Summer its very hot in caceres. even at midnight 36-38 degrees are not unusual Good tip? (0) Merida is an amazing little town packed with full with history. It is well worth 1,5-2 days of your time. I guess if you plan everything carefully or if you drop some of the smaller things you can cram it into 1 day. I would recommend to buy an "entrada conjunta". This combi-ticket is much cheaper than paying for the entrance of 2 or 3 sites seperatly. With this ticket you can see: -Teatro/Anfiteatro -Casa Anfiteatro -Santa Eulalia -Alcazaba -Casa Mitreo/Columbarios -Zona Arqueológica de Moreria -Circo Romano Together with the ticket you get a little booklet with some additional information on the more important sites. In the booklet there is also a little map indicating all the historical sites and museums in town, and there are quiet a few. When I was there, in 2007, I bought the ticket for 6 euros but that was the cheaper version because I had my student card with me. Good tip? (0) Santa Amalia is a small village of Extremadura Region. It's near from Mérida, and its principal atraccions are San Isidro's Natural Park and artificial lagoon called "Las Lagunas" where you can take a boat for a few coins (3 EURO). In the past, this park had 6 wild ostrichs and a couple of kangaroos. Santa Amalia's people is very kind and funny, if you want taste the original soul of spanish people, this is your place. Apart from, in this town, Dolores Ibárruri "La Pasionaria", important figure of the Spanish Civil War, give a speech in the last 30's. Good tip? (0) Recent Updates for Extremadura Region
