Lysekil is a fishing town on the west coast of Sweden, located to the north of Gothenburg. In the summer it becomes a major tourist destination for Swedes looking to commune with nature in a beautiful location filled with bays and cliffs. On the western edge of Lysekil is Stångehuvud, a nature reserve that was founded in 1982, and is known for its red Bohus granite landscape. There are many sea birds in Stångehuvud, as well as rabbits, and the rare deer. Other interesting things to do in Lysekil include visiting the Aquarium and the Lysekil church. The Aquarium is known as the House of the Sea (Havets Hus), and showcases sea life from the surrounding region. Its centerpiece is a tunnel aquarium which you can walk through while nearly surrounded by water. Lysekil Church was completed in 1901 and its spire reaches 95 meters high. It is a landmark for sea travelers along the west coast of Sweden.
