Sweden What to Expect
Stockholm, Stockholm and Surroundings, Sweden For people travelling with children, go to the Atrid Lindgren centre and the Tivoli funfair. The museum with the big ship that sank because it had too many cannons is good too (the name escapes me). Good tip? (0) Stockholm, Stockholm and Surroundings, Sweden If you are in Stockholm for a few days, book one of the cheap ferry trips to Aaland and take in the very scenic archipeligo. Be aware that many swedes use these trips as booze cruises so it may not be such a good idea with young kids. I would also recommend a trip to Mariefred if you want to see a typical swedish historic country town. Good tip? (0) Solleftea, Southern Bothnian Coast, Sweden Great place to ski. however if you are just learning to ski be prepared to be ona slope fll of children who just learn how to stand. Good tip? (0) Vimmerby, Southern Sweden, Sweden "Astrid Lindregns Värld" - its like a small world...you can find all the famous characters of Astrid Lindgrens Books there; all their streets houses are rebuild (small) A PARADIES FOR CHILDREN but we also enjoyed our day there (yes you really can spend a whole day there - theaters, shows, a lot to do ) isn´t everyone a fan of "PIPPI LONGSTRUMP" ;) the entrance is quite expensive ~ 30€ Good tip? (0) Stockholm, Stockholm and Surroundings, Sweden For both kids and adults who still enjoy spunky tales of Astrid Lindgren - Junibacken is the dreamplace to visit. The Story Train departs from Vimmerby station, taking you on a fantastic journey through Astrid Lindgren's stories. In addition to Swedish, you can select commentary in English, Finnish, German, Russian, Dutch, Italian, Mandarin and Japanese. The museum is situated on the island of Djurgården in the heart of Stockholm where you can find lots of other interesting museums and activities for at least a day or 2. www.junibacken.se Good tip? (0) Stockholm, Stockholm and Surroundings, Sweden In Scandinavia, we spent most of our nights on overnight trains to save money, however in Stockholm we stayed 1 night on a boat in the harbour. It was very atmospheric. worked out to about $30 per person I think, so pricey on a backpacker budget, but everywhere in Sweden is, so based on that fact, it was pretty good. Good tip? (+1) Gotland, Southern Sweden, Sweden Beautiful unspoilt island an easy trip by ferry from Stockhol. Hire a bike when you get there and make sure you take time to walk around historic Visby with its well preserved fortifications. Good tip? (+1) Lulea, Central & Northern Sweden, Sweden FOREX OFFICES AT STORGATAN Good tip? (+1) Stockholm, Stockholm and Surroundings, Sweden the 2kronor hostel is really nice and its located directly on the seaside of gamla stan (the old city), i at least felt save there and it was a good place to start my trips to the different places in stockholm Good tip? (+1) Nora, Southern Sweden, Sweden Stadshotellet is not only a hotel, it's also a sight in itself. And if you come to Nora in search of "Skoga" known from Maria Langs books, it is a must, because it is also the scene of one of her murder stories. Good tip? (+1) Stockholm, Stockholm and Surroundings, Sweden Stockholm has everything! And it could be the most beautiful city of Sweden, with its old buildings reminding about old Europe - like it should be! Great shopping, delicious meals and all sorts of nightlife and clubbing, whoever you are - you'll find your place to hang out in Stockholm. Good tip? (0) Solna, Stockholm and Surroundings, Sweden Pampas Marina with a stroll along Huvudsta Strand. Good tip? (0) Tidaholm, Gothenburg and Surroundings, Sweden If you want to pump at the gym in Tidaholm, you should visit Forshallen. It´s nothing to write home about, but it seems to be the only gym in town. Good tip? (0) Orkelljunga, Southern Sweden, Sweden Orkelljunga is placed by a lake of 3km. in lenght, and aprox. 2km.wide. It is a very nice freshwather lake, where the locals go to swim. you must wear a swimsuit or two piced. You can go by nice hikes around the lake, people are friendley and speak well english. Try not to disturb the wildlife, and you might have a very beautifull close incounter with nature. The camping areas will be well marked, but mostley at your own administration, most without anny facilityes. But tha nature there is really worth to have a look at. Good tip?
