Olympic Museum

No trip to Lausanne would be complete without a visit to the Olympic Museum. Lausanne is the international home of the Olympics, after all. It’s a great way to learn about the history of the modern Olympic games. The museum features permanent exhibits about the Summer and Winter Games and also features revolving exhibitions that change occasionally. Check out the schedule on their website to find out more information on their temporary showings.

Phone: (41.21) 621 65 11

Address: 1, Quai d'Ouchy, CH-1001 Lausanne

Very nice city in the french part of Switzerland. Its probably the only city in Switzerland that can compete in things such as nightlife and shopping with Zurich.

Very nice Old-Town, and lovely promenade at the lake.
For shopping just check out the Old-Town. When it comes to nightlife, theirs plenty of bars in and around the Old-Town, which is also the city center.

If you feel like dancing, the probably most famous club is MAD. Opens from Wednesday to Sunday. Mostly plays electronic music at the weekends. Another option is the club cult.

Its also is the Capital of Olympics. Theirs a small Olympic Museum, but its not really spectacular and I only recommend it to fanatics.

Hotels vary from very expensive (the ones down at the lake) to cheap. Good thing about Switzerland is, that you never really have to worry about clean rooms, even 1 oder 0 star hotels are at least clean.

I was situated in Geneve, but I was in Lausanne twice. Cathedral is very nice and there is opportunity to climb on the top.  The view from there is fantastic.
In old town there isn't something special to see and I suggest just walking near the lake. There is also near lake Olympic Museum.
First time when I was there it was Saturday afternoon, and there was open just one restaurant near railway  station with terrible pizza.
Find some cafe bar was big adventure.
My recommendation is if you have enough food and drink with you go to the Lausanne, else go the Montreaux, for me the best city in Switzerland.
