Named for its position between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, Interlaken is one of the oldest tourist areas in Swizterland, and is part of the Bernese Oberland region. Dominating the landsacpe is Jungfrau, one of the most spectacular mountians in the region. It is popular to go on hut to hut hiking tours in this region. Other activities include skydiving, canyoning, hang gliding, and skiing in the winter.
Travel Tips from people who've been to Interlaken
Go canyonning and waterfall rapelling! Imagine white water rafting without the raft! It's amazing! Good tip? (+1) Wear more clothes in the winter, if you are planning go to the Junflaujoch Good tip? (+1) Schilthorn Any trip to Interlaken would be incomplete without a visit to Jungfrau or Schilthorn. It’s an easy trip, just 30 minutes from Interlaken. And busses run frequently if you prefer to travel via public transportation. The easiest way to access the summit is by taking a ride on the gondola to the top, where you’ll be likely to find snow year round. The more adventurous can attempt to summit the mountain on foot. I strongly suggest getting off of the tram on the way down in Murren and hiking down to the bottom. Good tip? (0) Recent Updates for Interlaken
