Arusha is not a good place to go without a car and a guide driving it, really dangerous, people there aren't nice and you might get robbed if you don't pay attention!

Be careful of pushy and dishonest men selling safari trips.

Never, ever walk alone during the night in Arusha and its surroundings. It is not sae, not even for a few meters. Get a cab (deal the price before). Stories of rapes, attacks, robberies, carjacks, murders and others are not uncommon, so don't ever walk at night (sun sets at about 7 pm by the way).

Grab a ferry from Dars El Salem to Zanzibar, its about a two hour journey each way, but well worth it.

Some places take your breath away and this is one of them. Take lots of film - sorry disk space. Go to the loo before you leave camp.

Zanzibar's stone city is a place to see

Dar es Salaam is a bustling East African metropolis with friendly people all around. You will be haggled with a lot and charletans are all around so be warned. Do not walk alone on any of the beaches especially if you're a lady. Make sure you take a day excursion to Mbudya island - Its got some of the best snorkeling seen. A historical walk through the CBD is interresting and opens you up to this mostly Muslim world.

While in the markets in Moshi be careful as to not let the shop owners get away with a high price. I have been to a market there and let me tell you it's possible to get such a lower then before but you have to be willing to haggle
