Visit this diverse small West African country and see the markets of Lome, including the Grande Marche and the various handicraft markets around town. Togo is also known as a major voodoo center with around half of the population practicing it. Around Lome, there is the Marche des Feticheurs, where one can look at and purchase talismans, potions and more unusual items of voodoo practice. The area around Lake Togo has many voodoo related sights, including the village of Glidji, which contains shrines to the main voodoo deities. The cocoa and coffee country around Kpalime is notable for its hiking opportunities and its markets. This area also tends to be more prosperous than the rest of Togo due to its valuable crops.

FAN ICE!!!!!  Seriously if you're heading to Ghana, Togo or Burkina Faso you have to get into fan ice.  It's a wonderful cold treat on a hot day and you can choose between fanice (like vanilla ice-cream), fanyogo (frozen yogurt, comes in strawberry, vanilla or natural) or fanchoco (frozen chocolate milk).  They are served in little plastic tubes that you bite one corner off and suck the contents out and they are unbelievably good.  You'll often see boys peddling white carts around the street honking horns- they are selling fanice products- stop them, you won't regret it!

Lomé, my home town, i'll not tell that right now everything is okay there, cos of the diplomacy problems, but still, with a city almost totally distructed, you feel exceptionally good, maybe because of the weather? maybe because of really nice people always ready to make you feel like at home? or maybe because of the really really good recipes, meals and drinks we have over there... i'm just encouraginf everyone who 's dreaming to know africa, to start by going in Togo first... Plus, everything is so cheaper than in europe...even the poorest can afford it, only the plane ticket is a bit expensive ...

Kpalime is a nice town just three hours north of Lome with a cool atmosphere and also a cooler wheather. Nearby, just some km away and reachable by moto taxi, is Klouto. It is a  small village surrounded by gentle hills where it is easy to find a lot of butterflies. There are many short treks that can be done through the forest passing through villages and sources of water. It is possible to stay in the Auberge des Papillons, an interesting place where local artists sell their crafts.
