Tromelin Island Travel Guide

You’d have to be very determined to travel to this island, especially considering the fact that it’s not actually open to tourism. This 1km island is important enough to warrant an airstrip though. If you are a scientist, the island is the place to go to study sea turtles and seabirds, or do some research on meteorology. The island is situated in the Indian Ocean about 220 miles east of Madagascar.
