Built up on a former Punic settlement ( a prior inhabited settlement ) by the Roman Empire, E Jem is home to some of the most impressive Roman remains in Africa.  Its key draw is the Amphitheatre, which is thought to have hosted  numerous gladiator fights and chariot races.

I've seen quite a few spectacular Roman sites, but this one probably tops the lot. The Colosseum is really impressive and unlike the one in Rome it still has the floor!

Go check out the the amfitheater in el djem a very cool thing to see with the underground passages got to pay one dinar to take pictures but its worth it
