Travel Tips from people who've been to Monastir
Considering the amount of tourists, Monastir is rather pleasant though hardly worth going out of your way for. You can have a nice walk by the beach, get a cultural dose by the small castle, shop in the westernised souq or have a drink in a typical cafe. Still quite Tunisian despite it all, and perhaps my favourite of Tunisia, given I don't really like the place.

Go check out the local market on saturday mornings from 9 till 13. just ask the taxidriver for the market. dont take your passport with you. you will get it stolen. just take some cash and maybe a camera and alot of water if you go in summer. watch out for you guys following you around. if you notice one go to a less busy place, they wont follow you there
