Travel Tips from people who've been to Houmt Souk
Lovely town, but has become very touristic. Lots of markets (souks). Houmt Souk means mother of the markets, so... You have to be able to resist the vendors and merchandise really well. If you're on Djerba or close to it, you have to visit it, just for the market spirit. Taxis are really cheap aswell.
If you go here you better bring a good book! It is filled with tourist and that's okay if you are into that...but I highly recommend to get out of the hotel and see as much as possible. The pirate cruise to the Flamingo Island is nice if you like sunbathing on the beach but don't exspect to much.
Houmt Souk has a big outdoor market that is open Sunday afternoon (2pm onwards) and all day Monday. You can check out the little shops close by as well and its a lot cheaper than Midoun. Beware of cunniving shopkeepers though you want to rip you off!
