Travel Tips from people who've been to Southeastern Anatolia
To visit the Nemrut Dagi, Kahta is the best point of departure.

It is quite difficult to go to Nemrut Dagi alone as you need a car, and no buses go farthest than Kahta. Even with a car, the road is quite dangerous, so i would not risk to spend more money renting a car (that i couldn't found as they don't rent cars...) to have then an accident.
So the best solution is to try to find some people to go with, and rent a minibus with a local guide (beware of the price... u can cut to 75% the price they tell you... I paid ~15 Euro for whole afternoon). It's not bagpackers style, but it's the easyest and cheapest way i found.
Nemrut Dagi is one of the most fascinating site of Turkey, and it's quite unknown, still now. Basically the main site is the huge tomb of the Emperor of Comagene, Antiocos I, built on the top of the highest mountain. There are 2000 years old massive statue, and an impressive view on mesopotamia and Euphrate river, the landscape is amazing.

From Kahta then, you can go almost anywhere

An interesting city to visit, but it lacks the great amount of historical sites other cities have.  Places to visit are the museum, which is right next to the stadium, and of course one of the many many foodshops they have. Try to find the baklava baker Imam Shagdash (latter word actually uses turkish letters).  Gaziantep (G.Antep or Gazi Antep) is also a good launching platform for your travels to Syria. Take a Dolmush from a small little dolmush stop right behind a tank station to Kilis, and either tell the driver you need to go to the border. If he doesn't take you directly, He'll drop you off at Kilis, where you can take a Syrian cab to Haleb.  Two things to remember: (1) Negotiate the taxi fare beforehand and (2) Take about 200 euro or dollar with you.

The city of the prophets ,doesn t matter which religion you belong to,you will feel the  holy atmosphere in Urfa.Spend one evening after the the sunset in the big mosque opposite the lake with fishes and listen to the holy dhikr.Or just walk trough the streets and sit with locals next to the grill and enjoy the kebaps of eastern Anatolia. But don t sleep veryearly this city stays  alive after the sunset!!!
