The United Kingdom contains a wealth of treasures and natural diversity on its islands. It is now a very modern country in its cities, but you can still find patches of rural Britain if you look hard. The capital of London is a very cosmopolitan city that attracts many immigrants and is a world financial center. It is filled with world-class sights ranging from the British Museum, National Gallery, and the Tate Modern and Britain Galleries, to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Tower of London, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. The university cities of Oxford and Cambridge have impressive architecture and also have fabled histories with the many famous graduates that have passed through their campuses. Other monuments can be found in cities such as York, Durham and Canterbury with their massive cathedrals, while Bath charms with its Georgian and Roman architecture. Ancient wonders can be found too at the world-famous standing stones of Stonehenge.
