Travel Tips from people who've been to Birmingham
I visited Birmingham twice: in November 2007 for a weekend and again in February 2008 for 9 days. I got to see Cadbury World, the Bull-Ring shopping centre in the city centre, the jewellery quarter and even travelled as far as Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare's birthplace. I really enjoyed my visits and would recommend the city of Birmingham to any travellers to the city. I know a guy from Birmingham, we've been friends for years, and he was my guide. He had never seen half of what the city had to offer until I wanted to see it. Well worth a visit!

I also forgot to mention that when I was there last November, I was brought to a Chinese restaurant. It was a buffet-style restaurant where you could have second, and even third, helpings if you wanted them. Dessert was also served buffet-style so you could choose what you wanted or to have a mix of things to suit your palate. Again, highly recommended. There are many Chinese restaurants as well as a "Balti Triangle (or quarter)" situated throughout the city and are well worth the visit whether you like Chinese or Indian food.

As UK cities go, this is better than expected, and the area by the canals positively inspiring, full of nice places to go to here. The central arcade and the railway station are rather colourless though, but given the general reputation of Birmingham, the place is better than expected. Not that I would make a point of going there without a reason...
