Cute little place near Cambridge with a nice church and some nice cafes where you can have your tea and scones... not many tourists come here but its worth a detour if you are in the area...

Of course if you've made it all the way out to Ely you'll want to visit the Cathedral. But, when you're done snapping pics, have lunch at the Noodle Bar (the pad thai is amazing) and then stroll down to the West End Pub to share a pint with some fantastic locals.

Lovely small town with a unique and stunning cathedral (now charges an entrance fee for visitors). Make sure you walk down to the river where there are lovely pubs and tea shops (peacocks tearoom is great) and a large antique market.
