Travel Tips from people who've been to Salisbury
The obvious lure of Salisbury and the Salisbury planes is, of course, Stonehenge, but the beautifully restored Salisbury Cathedral is a spectacle all in itself.  If the normal Cathedral tour is still unavailable due to the ongoing repairs, I would definitely suggest taking the renovations tour.  You even get to wear a hard hat!

Stop for tea of cafe at Michael Snell's tea rooms (Near St. Thomas' Church). Go inside the church and check out the exceptional doomsday wall painting. The cathedral is stunning, but make sure you spend time exploring all of the cathedral close, there are some great buildings. The National Trust's Mompesson House is well worth a vist - the interiors are beautiful.

Make Salisbury your central base for sightseeing in the region. Easy to get to train station and busses. We highly recommend visiting Stonehenge, Old Sarum and Wilton House (National Trust Property) while you are in the area, and of course the Cathedral. It will bring tears to your eyes with its beauty!
