Windsor Travel Guide

Set aside the best part of a day for the Castle.  Take the opportunity to go through the Dollhouse exhibit... more than your average dollhouse.  There isn't any food for sale within the castle walls, only bottled water but you can get a wrist band pass to go out and come back in again.  Well worth checking out what time and day the changing of the guard occurs.  I thought it was more impressive than the Buckingham Palace ceremony, even if the soldiers were in winter grey.  There is a great little fudge shop on the outside road, head to the right and down the hill.

Windsor is a pretty little town, but let's face it, everyone visits it so they can visit Windsor Castle.

And the Castle is well worth the visit.  It exudes history.  It's architecture, history and grandeur are amazing.  And when you consider the damage done during that fire in the 90s they have done a wonderful job restoring it.

It is also amazing to stand near where some of the royal family were buried or where their funerals were held.

The highlight for me had to be the dolls house with working electric lights and an elevator.

Make sure to check out Windsor Castle. The royal jewels that were taken from India, during the reign of Queen Victoria, are on display in the Castle museum. It is a vast and beautiful collection. The mote, which was once filled with water, is now a beautiful flower garden. We had the best time in there, it was so very serene! All together, the highlight of the city is the castle. And if you are lucky, you might be there when the royal family is! Just check to see if the royal flag is waving above the family quarters of the castle!
