Questions answered about visiting Belfast
Would anyone recommend me must-see-place in Belfast? What is an Irish hotel that is classy but reasonable (not a chain like Holiday Inn)? Can you recommend an inexpensive, clean place for 2 to stay, with a good location in Belfast. Any advice on a nice village/acco on the coast nearby? Many thanks in advance. Travel Tips from people who've been to Belfast
A place to go!
Find a car, if you are alone take someone else with you to rent one (pretty cheap) and drive to Londonderry via Causeway Bay and back at night if u cant stayover. A real nice journey, sightseeing, pubs, sheeps, ocean. You will not regret it, for one or 2 days trip.
For Belfast, at night, walk down to main street, talk/ask people in the street (about your age) to know what are good places to go for the night.. and for sure, you will go with them or they will join u later on! So nice, so friendly, like real Irish people.. and way less turist compare to Dublin so contact with locals pretty easy and great! Good tip? (0) Of all of the cities I visited in Ireland, Belfast was my favorite. It's a city that is just the right size - walkable. I stayed at the Belfast International Youth Hostel, which may I say, as hostels go, was very good. Take a tour of the political murals of Belfast (I believe they're called the Black Taxi Tours). If you're too squeamish to try the Blood Pudding try some of the white pudding instead. The coastline is nice, especially south of Belfast in County Down. I wish I could have spent more time there and do hope to return in the future! Good tip? (0) The Crown is a bar in the middle of Belfast and represents the religious divide in the city. It was built by a Catholic woman and her Prodestant husband. She was allowed to name it on the condition he could decorate it. It was called the crown, and there is a mosaic of a crown on the floor as you walk in. He said to his mates it was so he could wipe his feet all over the crown as he went in every day. The Belfast Giants are the local ice-hockey team and they are supported by everyone, no matter what religious side of the fence they stand. Good tip? (0)
