Travel Tips from people who've been to Derry
Derry's walls are the only intact walls in Western Europe. They also are one of the few that were never breached. Derry has plenty of other attractions top people such as the Tower Museum and Guildhall. Derry is certainly not lacking in restaurants I personally would suggest for the more sophisticated there is Mange2 on the river front and the Bayleaf. For people looking for good food at a reasonable price try the exchange or TimberKey. For those who like Drama you should try the Millennium Forum. If shopping is your thing then try either Northern Ireland's largest shopping centre Foyleside or the Richmond centre or how about the worlds OLDEST department store Austins in the Diamond. I personaly would suggest the City Hotel to stay in.

One of the more interesting things to do in Derry is go for a stroll along the old city walls.  Take out your camera to take a few pix and watch as the security cameras mounted on tall poles along the wall track you to see where you go and what you take photos of (especially pay attention as you near the police station).  It's a little disturbing, but also kind of interesting.

One the nicest things about Derry is that it's living history in Ireland. Go for a walking tour along the city walls (ask at tourist office) and you'll how it is still very divided. However this can still cause tension so while talking to people from Derry do be careful what you say on the subject until you know how they feel on the matter.
