Travel Tips from people who've been to Portrush
Here's what you do in Portrush: get up and pack a picnic lunch, walk out and throw a blankie down on the East Strand beach (late at night near the light house is gorgeous) - start walking east, you'll soon run out of beach but keep to the rocks and don't be afraid! after a few miles you'll see the famous rock formation that looks like a dude's face staring out to sea... soon after, the lovely stone arch... and then the jackpot, Dunluce Castle, one of the most beautiful and architecturally interesting castles in the entire world. You don't need to pay to get in, just circumnavigate the place and find a crack in the ruins ;) If you want to keep up the hike, about ten miles later you'll come to the Giant's Causeway, weird!!
Portrush is a very nice and very small town in Northern Ireland. I think it's one of the best places if you to go to the Giant's Causeway on foot, wich is 20 km from the town - it's a long walk but you'll have a great view! If you are travelling through Ireland, in Northern Irleand you will have to exchange Euros in Sterlings. Pay attention: in Northern Ireland everything is more expensive! Portrush is full ok banks, but if you'll find everything closed there are a lot of "amusements" (places where you can bet) and there they will change your money for free. For what concernes Accomodations, there's only one hostel in Portrush, often full, and a lot of B&B (30 pounds per night).
Very strange driving there... red white and blue flags everywhere (a bit strange), but to go to the giants causeway... amazing - one of the best places I have ever been
