Loch Ness
It is the most famous lake in the world. Loch is the Scottish word for lake. It is at the northeast end of the Great Glen in the Highlands of Scotland. It contains a larger volume of water than any other Scottish loach. It is around 250m deep in places and the water is said never to freeze (the same cold temperature throughout the year). The water becomes deep very quickly and the sides of the loch suddenly plunge vertically down from the shore, so swimming is not recommended!
There have been unconfirmed reports of "Nessie" the Loch Ness Monster been sighted since the 15th century. However, I did not catch a glimpse of it when I was there.

Good tip? (0) Inverness is a lovely friendly little place...my suggestion is to go around Xmas time as it is very likely to snow and is very pretty. Go for a walk along the river on Xmas day and you will have the virgin snow to yourself. The old castle ruins on Loch Ness looks incredible with snow on it too. You have to get up early to see Nessy though! Good tip? (0)
