A regular ferry leaves for Rosslare in Ireland from the port of Fishguard Harbour (not actually in Fishguard, but a mile away at Goodwick). Fishguard is the terminus of the A40 London to Fishguard trunk road. It is in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Fishguard is served by train at Fishguard Harbour railway station.
Fishguard has a relatively mild climate due to its coastal position. The winds coming from the west or south-west have a determining influence on temperature and precipitation. Wildlife around Fishguard is rich in flora and fauna: it shows a wide variety of colourful wild flowers and sea mammals including the redirect-grey seal, and even porpoises and dolphins. The local birdlife include Curlew, Redshank and Sanderling regularly foraging in the lower fishguard harbour and redirect-Stonechat, Cormorant and Fulmar can be seen from the coastal path.
Sea fishing and the port are the principal industrial activities in this town. Fishguard Harbour opened in 1906 and today is used by ferry passengers to Ireland and also well-known for herring fishery.

We arrived expectant, as the long narrow hedged, winding roads took us further into rural Wales. The aim of this holiday in mid-northern Wales was not to sightsee or learn. Our aim was to REST, REST and then REST some more.

This little village is in North-Middle Wales... and its closest town is Welshpool. It has one main road that runs through the town.. it'll take you about 2 minutes to drive through it ;) It has the necessary pubs, church, library and Spar, and is a community-orientated village.

Going for a drive is such fun too.... just get in the car and choose one of two directions out of the town... the views and winding lanes, and greenery is stunning. Well worth it.

Kidwelly is in Carmarthenshire West Wales. It has an amazing castle which dominates the town. It is a mixture of woodland, seashore and countryside. The castle is reputedly haunted. There are a number of B&B's and small farmhouse B&B's. A few hotels the largest being Gwenllian Court Hotel with 22 rooms. Tel: - 01554 890217.
An excellent place for a relaxing holiday.
