  3147If you plan on traveling between Haines and Skagway by boat and don't have a car, take the Chilkat Fast Ferry instead of the Alaska State Ferry. The Chilkat Ferry dock is close to the center of Haines but the State Ferry dock is more than 5 miles from the center. In Skagway, both the State Ferry dock and the Chilkat Ferry dock are within walking distance of the downtown. Good tip?
