Ride the Canyon

Take a mule ride down the canyon. There are two options - a one day trip takes you halfway down the canyon, gives you a nice view and then takes you back up to the top. The two day trip takes you all the way to the bottom, where you camp for the night and then back to the top the next day. The mules have sure footing on the narrow paths. It's a little scary at first but is a lot of fun. Make reservations far in advance as this kind of trip books up quickly!

How do you write a travel review for something that has already been well covered in all mediums, so let me just say that if you choose to take a short hike "down" one of the trails, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get back up.  It was obvious that is was easy going down, but we never anticipated just want a workout it was going to be going back up.  It was well worth it, though, and I would go back again in a heartbeat.  Next time we're going to plan to spend even more time in the area and are considering doing a much longer hike all the way down to the floor of the canyon.

When visiting the Grand Canyon, I highly recommend visiting the "North Side".  Though the South end is more popular, I strongly believe the north has more to see.  South end is more desert, more what people are used to seeing in movies.  Head to the north side and you will find beautiful forests, with the same amazing views of the Canyon.  Along the way to the North side, I also recommend stoping at Zion National Park.  An amazing locale with stunning sights.  A little off the beaten path, but if you are willing to hike a little, it is definately worth it!
