It's really worth staying over in Tucson for at least a few days if you're traveling through the United States's Arizona region. Tucson is one of the United States's more popular travel destinations, and travelers usually go there to see the Santa Catalina Mountains and Sonoran Desert Museum. There's a lot more to check out in Tucson, so be sure to look around the Tucson travel guide for more great things to see and do.
Travel Tips from people who've been to Tucson
Be sure to travel in Tucson during one of the worlds biggest gem, mineral, fossil and rock hound show and sale! It is held the last 2 weeks of January through the first week of February. The entire city turns into the most exotic flea market to Tiffany jewelery. Good luck finding a place to stay in town, all the hotels and motels are turned into bazzars. The town is safe and if you arent obviously flashing millions of $$ of diamonds, you can be sure to sleep and travel safely.
Downtown Tucson is a great place to visit to find interesting shops and fun local restaurants. There are great shops with beautiful jewelry and native american pieces, my fav. There are also great outdoors activities to do. Go to Mt. Lemon, there is this other mountain with a river that you can inner-tube down. Fun stuff!! Find the Peruvian restaurant "Candela", the food is killer!
If you are going to do any sightseeing in Tucson, consider getting a Tucson Passport. Website is http://www.visittucson.org/visitor/attractions/passport/ and you can pick it up at most of the attractions listed in the book. If you are traveling with someone else you will be saving money after just one or two tourist attractions.
