Ocean Beach attracts only a small number of travelers, who mostly stop for a visit to see the Sunset Cliffs. Otherwise those traveling through the area generally visit the more popular destinations such as San Diego and Coronado. If you do travel to Ocean Beach, please take some time to tell us about what you saw in this Ocean Beach travel guide.
Travel Tips from people who've been to Ocean Beach
Closest beach to Downtown San DIego. There are  two hostels in the area. OBI hostel is located on newport Ave. - main St. of OB, just a block away from the ocean, and is convenient in every way.
Live music, farmers market(Wednesdays), endless sunshine, surfing, Irish pubs  and happy hippies will make you want to stay in this place.
Longest pier on the west coast is the nicest place to take a  walk as the sun goes down.

If you go, take a handful of quarters and an easy going approach as this quiet, hippie-esque community is very laid back. Make sure you eat fish tacos and walk out along the mile long pier for the sunset!

I used to live in OB - it is the most relaxed of all the beach towns in San Diego. South Beach Bar & Grill is great for a pint and seafood.
