Travel Tips from people who've been to Pasadena
If you are in Pasedena for New Years then the Rose Parade is a must see. The Rose Parade features the beautiful pageantry and tradition of magnificent floral floats, high-stepping equestrians and spirited marching bands. The year i watched it i got to see Sirley Temple who was riding on one of the floats. The best way to see the parade is to "camp out" on the Parade route starting at noon on December 31. All "campers" must stay on the curb prior to midnight. After midnight, they may move out to the blue line. From what i know the Parade follows the same route every year: Starting on Ellis St, heads north on S. Orange Grove Blvd., then east on Colorado Blvd, north (left turn) on Sierra Madre Blvd., and ending at Paloma Street. The Rose Bowl Parade lasts around 2 and a half hours, start to finish. Afterwards, the floats go to nearby Victory Park, where you and your family can get a close up look at the flower floats, and hear about all the hours of work that went into preparing each float for the parade. There is usually a fee to view the floats here. The rose bowl game usually starts a few hours after the parade is finished.

If you're visiting the Huntington gardens by foot or cycle, there's no separate entrance for you.  You must enter through the car parks.  Once inside the Library is a must-see!
