Travel Tips from people who've been to Sarasota
If you ever visit Sarasota go to the beaches at Siesta Keys! The most beautiful beach I've ever been to! After the beach be sure to check out a really good ice cream place near all the little shops!

Sarasota was by far the best place I went while in Florida. The water was clear and clean. There were strip malls that held everything from simple bistro's to formal art galleries. The locals were very nice, most were in retirement and seemed to want to take a great deal of care to their city. However English was a second language in some parts but it wasn't to bad compared to some other places in Florida. As far as nightlife you can find places in Sarasota or drive to Tampa as they are very close together. I highly recommend this city to anyone, it really is a great place!

Mote Aquarium is close to Sarasota--and a must see. They rescue all sorts of animals from the Gulf of Mexico. You can touch sting rays, see manitees, look at rescued sea turtles (and babies), and all sorts of other ocean creatures! We even got to see them feed the dolphins while we were there! On a rainy day (or on a hot day when you need to get out of the sun)--this is a place the family can go and see beautiful sea animals.
