Minnie's -- the restaurant/ diner is an adorable. Everything is "mini" and you can mix/ match what you want so you don't get food jealousy. even the beers come in mini bottles and drinks... oh! and the food is good and inexpensive. Good for cute date, families with kids or just friends... really good.. I think it's near Artimage or Armitage street? Area?

Must go to the loop, and use the L (chicago's mostly elevated subway system). See the stuff downtown, the water tower place, sears tower, etc. When your getting around, don't think about renting a car; you can get into a rough hood in a snap. Take the L, or take cabs, but to get the full Chicago experience, the L is better. Go down to Wrigley, venture through the north-side, and the downtown millennium park. Gotta see the Giant Mirror Bean.. Art Institute of Chicago is a world renowned museum and definitely worth your time. Avoid: The Navy Pier, unless you have little kids. Stay out of the Southside and Westside unless you have a real reason to be there. Its not all bad, but you CAN get yourself into bad areas quickly.

I was there in a Tractor Parade. I was in the AMVETS color guard picking up spent rifle shell casings. The town is very small and there were an amazing variety of tractors. People stared at me a lot. I kept throwing the spent casings at children but they liked that. There's really not a whole lot more to say about this town.

Places that I wish I could take my kids because I enjoyed them so much is the Shedd Aquarium and the Museum. The Spongebob Squarepants movie at the aquarium is a LOT of 3-D fun.

Navy Pier
Navy Pier is a tourist trap, but very family-oriented. It's the home of Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, as well as an IMAX and the Chicago Children's Museum. It features indoor shopping and dining as well as a small botanical gardens. There are "street vendors" outside when the weather is nice and most of the city's boat tours of the river and lake launch here. Navy Pier has an open air beer garden and offers concerts and other events throughout the Summer. The main attraction might be the large Ferris Wheel which offers an excellent view of the city from the top. Everything is overpriced on Navy Pier - so buyer beware. Parking on the pier is very expensive so I would recommend walking down or taking one of the free trolleys.
At Least Do This: They decorate the Pier seasonally and even feature special attractions, like a haunted house around Halloween. It's not nearly as exciting or fun as it claims to be, but it's worth checking out briefly if you're bored or want to see some of the boats up close.
Alternative: For Boat Tours - I suggest taking the ones offered on NORTH Pier (see my tip about these).
Chicago Shakespeare Theatre is a great venue to see a show. The view from the John Hancock is just as good as the one from the Ferris Wheel and can be had for free.

Quiet suburb of Chicago, West of the city. There used to be a nice Bally's club here. Maybe it still is. There is also a horse-racing track here for gamblers, which I am not. Plenty of great restaurants abound. Travel here by Blue Line, then take a Pace bus North.
