Travel Tips from people who've been to Iowa
Airliner Pizza; George's for Beer and Burgers Good tip? (+1) Sheraton Iowa City Hotel: In the heart of downtown The Sheraton Iowa City is a great, centrally located option right downtown. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The lobby is a little small, and there always seems to be some sort of construction going on around it, but it serves it's purpose. In my opinion, it's a great place to stay when you're in town. I have stayed here more than once because I was satisfied with my experience. Right outside you have access to many bars, shops and restaurants as well as the mall. They also include free, covered parking in the public lot adjacent to the building. I would stay here again the next time I return to Iowa City. Unique Qualities: The staff is great and the hotel is close to everything downtown. Parking is included with validation from the front desk. It's also private - elevators to the guest rooms can only be accessed with a room key. They have an indoor pool and weight room and offer complimentary USA Today newspapers in the morning. Prices: US$80-120 Phone: (319) 337-4058 Address: 210 S Dubuque St, Iowa City, IA 52240 Directions: Directly across the street from the Public Library downtown. Good tip? (0) Brothers Bar & Grill: College Bar Downtown Iowa City is full of pubs, surprise, surprise... It's a college town what do you expect. Once such bar is Brothers. It's large and conducive to rowdy crowds, but early on a summer evening having a beer on their outdoor patio can be a delight. Inside the bar is dark and decidedly collegiate. They have pool tables and televisions line the bar showing sports, sports and more sports. They serve bar food and have drink specials, with lots of beer on tap. The patio is the perfect place to sit back, watch a game, have a beer and watch people stroll down the pedestrian mall. Phone: 319-338-6373 Good tip? (0)
