Nebraska Travel Guide

I have never seen another river with so many branches all labeled with some variation of the name "Platte" I really only ever drove through here on my many journeies between New York and Colorado. I can say that the area is nice. Very wide open. Very peacefull. Life is at a stand still pace here. I usually tried to stop off and find a "Mom and Pop" style restaurant. The kind where the food is good but you are really paying for the service. Plenty of these to be found around here. I can remember stoping at the Wendys here with my family when my son was a month old. That was the most expensive time I ever had at Wendys!!!

When going to Omaha in the fall, there are two places that you cannot miss: Vala's pumpkin patch is fun for the entire family.  It has a few rides, many stores filled with wonderful things, a pumpkin cannon, a corn maze, a petting zoo, and of course, a pumpkin patch! Scary Acres is for the teenagers and adults.  It is probably the most popular haunt in nebraska at this time of year.  It is about 25 dollars for every attraction, so come with wallets packed!

Visit the Henry Doorly Zoo when you're here. It's #1 in the world. Largest indoor rain forest, largest bird sanctuary, largest monkey complex, indoor desert (and the Kingdoms of the Night exhibit in the basement is fantastic), top notch aquarium with shark tunnel... It had been #2 to San Diego but just passed it up with the completion of some more large exhibits. Even during winter it's great since most of the best stuff is all indoors.
