Atlantic City is a city in New Jersey that is well known as a seaside resort town and also for its boardwalk, beaches, and casino gambling.

The Atlantic City Boardwalk is the backbone of this resort town and provides access to shops, casinos, resorts, and more.  There are several piers featuring a number of cultural and other attractions as well.  The casinos have been historically pretty popular, although not anywhere near that of Las Vegas.

Travel Tips from people who've been to Atlantic City
Always Turned On   I took part in Work and Travel Program and I was employed in Resort’s Casino in Atlantic City for 4 months. I had a chance to see good and bad sides of this city. The Bordwalk and Casinos look beautiful, but the deeper you get to the rest of the city it’s becoming uglier and especcially at night can be dangerous. I was always trying to go back home with somebody else, becasue one of my firends was attacked by some thieves. The Atlantic City is always turned on, casinos are open 24 hours a day, most of the restaurants and bars as well. During the season ( May – October ) and weekends is awfully crowded . People are in different age, most of the families come with children ( but worth to remmember is you have to be over 21 years old to stay inside the casino ( casino floor). If you are under you can just walk through with somone older. There are different casinos in AC. From my own experience and opinions of my friends the best ones to stay ( gamble and dine) are: Tropicana ( very nice rooms and diffrent attractions), Ceasars and Showboat. In the Resort’s where I worked most of the rooms are old and do not look too good, but the food is very nice. All in all casinos look fine but they are not comparable to the ones in Las Vegas J. When you book your room is good to arrive as early as it possible because sometimes, especcially in summer you can be sent somwhere else due to lack of rooms. ( even if you have reservation – all the casinos are overbooked). The parking is very expensive, average 15-20 $ a day, plus be prepared for the tipping. Tip for valet, tip for housekeeper and of course for a server, so maybe if your packet is not very big it's better to stay in one of the smaller hotels. Holiday- Inn's and other.   You can get FREE parking at Showboat casino, or $5/day for non-member. To get free parking, you have to go to the casino and apply for a reward card which is also free. I saw one review said you need to go through the casino to get to the boardwalk, that is NOT true. There are alway access paths beside each casino, but walk through casino will be much colder in summer :)

Ah, Atlantic City.  All I can say about this town is that it is extremely addictive.  Famous for it's casinos and nightlife, you can definitely count on good ol' A.C. for an awesome time.  Whether you're at the slots, or playing a friendly game of Black Jack, or risking it all at a 1-2 table you're more than likely to have a blast.  For those individuals who prefer not to gamble, there are plenty of options available. Take your pick from concerts, to museums exhibits, designer outlets and top of the line restaurants.  And of none of these captures your fancy, there is always the Boardwalk and the beach at your fingertips.

Although Bank of America is the reigning bank of Atlantic City, casinos are always available for cash advances, cashing in checks and even sending/receiving money orders and/or Western Union.  Also, a good tip for you poker players: Mike and I recently discovered that poker regulars at most casinos who have accrued enough credit on their account can actually stay at the casino for as little as $45.  Just call and ask.  If you are not a casino regular, look for deals at hotels at least 5 miles outside of the city.  There are plenty of accomodations in the surrounding areas.  We actually stayed in a nice, king sized hotel suite with a jacuzzi for around $250 for 2 weekend nights back in June.  So just do some research and you're bound to find something.

Be sure to bring a little spending money, casual clothing, beach/pool attire and at least one classy evening outfit for the casino.  It's always good to dress to impress in any casino.  Also, don't forget to tip your dealers and your cocktail waitresses.
