Travel Tips from people who've been to Alamogordo
Its not quite the middle of nowhere, but itcomes really close! Alamogordo is a decent sized town with a small mall, a decent but small zoo, an impressive space center, a two year college, some historical museums about the area, and is really a great place for people who like calm quiet towns with some civilization. Alamaogordo lies in a valley between tow mountain ranges and is near the White Sands National Park, which is a sea of pure white gypsum sand, great place to visit just to be at a beach (without the water).
