no-one should leave manhattan without a visit to harlem. check local listings for cultural venues, museums (e.g. the studio museum dedicated to african american art) or restaurants. the baton rouge is a nice creole/cajun restaurant on 145th btwn amsterdam and convent ave.

Harlem used to be a bad neighborhood, but it's cleaning up nicely.  New buildings are being built, and old ones are being fixed.  It's not as bad anymore :)

Go to "Mama Mexico". It's a typical New York Mexican bar which brings a lot of pleasure and good food,yum yum. Nearby 102nd St. Brdway.
