Lake Placid Travel Guide

A northern city way above New York City, The Winter Olympics were held here and it shows in the city still. Modern and very welcoming. The skiing is very good. Lake Placid is a city of the world, for the world, and will not let you slip away unhappy.

We visited Lake Placid on our last trip to Canada when doin a trip to Adirondack Ntl-Park. We came from Niagara Falls and decided to stay at night in the park. Occasionally we came across this beautiful place called Lake Placid and immediately got addicted to it. We stayed at the Best Western Hotel right beside the lake. It might not be the biggest city we visited but it for sure was one of the most beautiful. People were very friendly, the food was good and we could relax a lot.

What a great place to visit any time of the year.  In winter this is a fabulous ski resort with the facilities left over from the winter olympics for everyone to use. In the summer the scenery is stunning, the town itself is smallish and perfectly formed with a traditional small town high street with many tourist shops and places to eat. Across the lake there are many large houses and condos they look great at  night when the lights reflect in the lake.
