No, you’re not dreaming, on a movie set, stepped back in time, or having a brain aneurysm.  You may have happened upon a place that is very real and very special.  So, take a big breath, exhale and relax.  This place is The Town of Davidson; A beautiful and bucolic town, just thirty miles or so from the big city of Charlotte , NC.

Did you bring your camera?  You will be glad you did.  Main Street is a great place to start and a sight to see with friendly, inviting stores, shops, banks, and restaurants.  Just across the street you will find the Town Green, a great place to reorient your compass and get your bearings.  Across from the green, you can't help to see Davidson College , a beautiful institution that is truly beyond compare in every imaginable way.  If you are in luck, maybe you will be able to catch a college event.  Many sporting events occur on campus regularly, to include, football, baseball, and basketball.  It would also surely be a a win to experience a fine theatrical or musical performance at the college.

Venture off Main Street and you will find quaint neighborhoods with lovely homes, along tree-lined streets with children and parents riding their bikes and playing in the numerous parks.  If you get lost, look for one of the friendly town police officers who are there to help.  You might find them on a bike on foot or patrol car.

If you have a little time, stop by at one of the fine coffee shops in town, or enjoy an ice cream. Catch up on the day’s events or the news at the local bookstore on Main Street or just across the street in the town library.  Spend some time in one of the town’s art studios or galleries.  Need a haircut?  You will find a good barber right on Main Street .  If you can invest a little more time, enjoy a good meal or cold refreshment at any of the restaurants in town - you can’t go wrong at any of them.  You won't find any fast food in town, and you can be glad because this is not the place to be in a hurry.  In fact, consider parking your car and stretch your legs. A walk will do you good and the town can easily be seen on foot.  If walking is not for you, try a bike.  The Town of Davidson is pedestrian and bicycle friendly.

Spending the night?  You have several options from great B&Bs to a couple of nice new hotels right in town.  Did you know The Town of Davidson is on Lake Norman ?  Yes, and it is beautiful.  Along with the lake, you will find that Fisher Farm Park , the Beaver Dam House, the town cemetery, and the many churches, are all worth your time for discovery and exploration.

Most importantly, the people - You would be hard-pressed to find a nicer group of people anywhere.  You are sure to find them friendly, engaging, warm, and welcoming.  Yes, again you have happened upon the Town of Davidson, a very real and all so special place.  Enjoy your visit.
