Travel Tips from people who've been to Eugene
Eugene is a college town home to the ducks. Check out the cultural art museum it is so cool anything from Russian art to Chinese art located on the college campus. The campus itself is very unique has that old European feel and the clock sounds every hour. I recomend taking a campus tour.I would highly highly suggest eating at the yum cafe based out of Eugene it is to die for. It does rain alot in the winter so do bring some warm clothes and an umbrella in the summer it is warm and sunny maybe some showers a couple times in the summer. Fun fact: The city of Springfield which is pretty much Eugene they are intertwined cities is what the show The Simpsons is based on. if you want to go shopping there is also a huge mall in the center of Eugene away from the campus.
If you're passing through Eugene, don't forget to stop by Sweet Life Patisserie for a little slice of Heaven. Be prepared to spend about $5 for a piece of the best cheesecake, chocolate orgasm, or carrot cake that you've ever had. They have a nice range of cake and pie desserts as well as smaller tortes and tarts, and they serve coffee. It's a cozy cafe setting with outdoor seating and usually a line out the door, particularly in the summer. In all of our travels, this is our favorite dessert place of all time!
Eugene, OR is a nice little college town that is home to the University of Oregon. The town is another hippie destination where you can still see people with dreads and VW buses. There is an nice outdoor music venue called the Cuthbert, where many summer concerts are held. You can also see the annual Oregon Country Fair. It is still very Oregon. Don't let the progressive looking seasonal population fool you into thinking that they are Californians.
