Traveling with Children in Oregon
Portland, Oregon, United States
I personally like to take advantage of the the area has to provide in scenery. Either head into the Hood National Forest and visit Bagby Hot Springs, or head east of town into the Columbia River Gorge and visit the waterfalls! Bagby Hot Springs is a natural hot springs at the top of a mile and a quarter leisurell hike. Be aware that the springs are clothing optional, so if you bring children, you might want to scout it out first. There are some campgrounds at the trail head, but this place is unfortunately frequented by car thieves, so a day hike might be your best bet.

Sunriver Resort: A Conde Nast Favorite (as well as a mine)

Actually located 17 miles south of Bend in Sunriver, Oregon, this resort is a spectacular year-round destination. The massive grounds boast miles of hiking, walking and biking trails popular during the summer months. A variety of lodging options are available for any group number or budget, including hotel rooms at the lodge, condos and individual cabins. It's the closest resort to Mt. Bachelor ski resort and features a less-traveled route to the mountain. Pools and hot tubs as well as an ice skating rink are open all winter. The summer months feature a roller rink and bicycle rentals in addition to horseback riding and more activities. The resort is completely self-sufficent housing several restaurants, a gas station, grocery store, ski rentals, shopping and a full-service spa. Great for couples or families, Sunriver Resort is a personal favorite anytime of year. We booked a huge condo (could easily sleep 8-10) through the resort's website during peak season (between Christmas and New Years) for a steal. Upon arrival we added an extra night onto our stay (that online jumped in price by $100) for the cheaper price we were already paying a night. ($139 a night total - not per person!)

Unique Qualities: Tennis, horseback riding, biking, hiking, nature center, spa, pools, roller / ice rink, shopping center, grocery store, gas station, restaurants, golf, cross country and downhill skiing, fly fishing, rafting, kids club, fitness classes, canoeing kayaking, ropes course.

Prices: US$80-120

Phone: (800) 801-8765

Address: PO Box 3609, Sunriver, OR 97707 Website: http://www.sunriver-resort.com/

Gay/Lesbian Travelers in Oregon
Klamath Falls, Oregon, United States
We went in May and it was BEAUTIFUL! My only regret is that Crater Lake was still surrounded by snow and there was only one path in and out and all the hiking trails were closed. We were told to come back in the fall before it got too cold.

Need to see, Undersea gardens, Ripley's, Bay street, wax museaum, aquarium and the yaquina lighthouse. Make sure the weather is good when you are going because it is very windy and cold there(more so than the other northern beaches)

For a cool day hike, head out of Bend to the little town of Terrebonne and Smith Rock State Park. There's some striking scenery, some of the best rock climbing in the world (for those into that), and it's just a great place to hike around....

Portland has all four seasons of the year. Prepare for rain in spring, heat waves during the summer, cold nights in the fall and then hail and snow during the winter. Visit Mt. Hood during the summer its great and there is still snow on the mountain.

Oregon Health
Beaverton, Oregon, United States
Beaverton is the home of the Nike World Campus, and it has 8 restaurants, a massage office, and running trails.  It is sure worth a visit.  The running trails are beautiful and well maintained.  There are tennis courts, all kinds of treats.  No visit to Beaverton is complete without a visit there.  See Murray Road.

Wizard Island, Oregon, United States
You may want to reconsider going to this particular place during the summer. When the snow melts, theres a different species of mosquito, they are slightly larger than ordinary ones. They come out day and night when the snow begins to melt. A park ranger called them "Snow Mosquitos" they come out even when its around 50 degrees. And they come in hordes, lolz like every time we tryed to stop and take pics, we were covered in at least 20 to 50 with in seconds. My advice would be to either not go there, go during the winter when the roads are covered in 10-20ft of snow, or take pictures from inside your car.
