Go downtown to the square to get something to eat, but plan on parking a few blocks away. There are about a dozen nice cafes and restaurants around the square "area". It is very safe area to walk around at night.

005When you reach town and sign up for your battlefield tour, you can add three attractions to save money. However, I recommend not going to the Lincoln Train Museum as one of those attractions.

003I would recomend reading about the battle before going to Gettysburg. The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara is a great book to "start" with. Other than that watch out for the tourist traps.
