Rhode Island Travel Guide

Unlike some of the larger islands off the southern NE coast, Block Island's main road offers some of the most scenic views in this part of the world.  Rent a bike or moped and cruise all the way around.  It's worth the time. Stop at the lighthouse and hike down the dozens of steps to the beach and take a refreshing dip before finishing your journey.  As you arrive back near the "downtown" area, the public beach is worth a stop if the weather is nice.  We like to finish off the day with a cocktail at one of the hotels along the waterfront near the ferry dock.

A typical restaurant that many people stop at in Providence is The Cheesecake Factory.  This restaurant is mid priced, family oriented, and has great food.  Later evening meals are more sophisticated and tend to have less children in attendance.  This place serves up a good meal and a great dessert for a littler more than a reasonable price.  You're on vacation, spoil yourself!!  I'd give it $$$ out of $$$$$ on the cost meter.

Eastwinds neighborhood is a great place to stay.  Rental units are plentiful during the summer and you get a real house... not a cottage.  It's a short walk to the beaches, a short drive to plenty of good seafood restaurants, and an easy trip over to Newport and Jamestown.
