Gatlingburg Tennessee has held some of the best Fall Foliage. In fact they hold a fall foliage festival every year from the middle of September through the middle of November. The Smoky Mountains are famous for there fall colors. Newfound Gap Road, and Sugarland Mountain Trail are both good hiking area's. Years ago we had stayed in a hotel in Gatlinburg, and the next morning I had to go down to the office to get an iron to press clothes with. When I went to the door to downstairs my oldest son [then about 6 yrs old] would not let me leave..he became very upset when I told him to move, and after questioning him we found out that he had looked outside the window seeing a guy dressed in his Cherokee Indian costume. Greg was sure I would be scalped before his eyes if I went down there.

This is a fantastic little town. You can do just about everything. A great place to stay is the Twin Islands Best Western Hotel, very friendly and affordable. A great place to eat breakfast is Atrium Pancakes just opposite the Best Western, the food is gorgeous and the staff and owners are the best. For dinner I'd reccommend Applebees. Take a trip on a lift up into the Smokies for some great views. Visit the mall for great shopping. Drive through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, you'll fall in love with it, I did. It has extraordinary scenery, views, photograph opportunities and history. It's so worth it!
