People in Texas
Addison, Texas, United States
This town has more restaurants per capita than New York City. Seriously, it's a place to get drunk, eat, but so few people live here. It's a fun town and the closest place from Plano to get liquor and fine spirits.

Houston, Texas, United States
Check out the underground system of tunnels. If you don't see many people walking around the downtown area it's because they are all underground.

Clear Lake Shores, Texas, United States
Not exactly a tourist place. Clear Lake Shores is a very closely-knit community. People tend to get around CLS on golf carts. It's basically an island on Clear Lake (an extension of Galveston Bay). People there seem to really be into the tropical, island culture, which can be seen in their slower pace of living and strong community connections.

San Antonio, Texas, United States
I have mixed feelings about San Antonio. The Alamo is very impressive, and the river walk is a wonderful idea. What I wasn't expecting was the vast amount of garbage that people throw into the river along the river walk. It took away the beauty of what the river walk is intended to represent. There is a great BBQ restaurant on the river walk to eat at, and the best part is if you use the restroom you are able to hear how to speak 'Texan'.

Houston, Texas, United States
Houston is an awesome place to visit or live! It's cost of living index is 88.1 compared to the 100 national average, and it has many fun and cultural things to do--something for everyone. My favorite suburb is Sugarland!

Austin, Texas, United States
For some of the best music in the world, head to Austin during SxSW or Austin City Limits. 6th street and the surrounding area is one of the best live music spots in the country.

South Padre Island, Texas, United States
This is essentially the Cancun for American college kids who are 21. Spring break is your classic girls gone wild environment. I went there off season to take advantage of the wind to kite surf. Very steady, 15-35 knots, with lots of opportunity for down-winders either on the flat or ocean side. Accomodation is inexpensive in offseason (I was paying about $120/week for a hotel room with mini-kitchen, a block from the beach). When not spring break, it's a well known destination for what they call "winter-texans", retired folks wanting to soak in the rays. Good international community behind the scenes, many of which were from Israel. I'll be going back there to kite - winds were more than excellent and the shallow waters make it the perfect low consequence place to learn this sport.

Onalaska, Texas, United States
Lived here my entire life.  Well almost...but many people think I have been here forever.  Its small town but it has its positives.  Living on the lake is a different lifestyle.  Its far enough from most people, but just close enough to Houston!  Skiing is always fun, and the fishing is good. Land prices are still fairly reasonable here and the cost of living is low!

I love this little town, it use to be a small fishing town, but it is growing. Its not just a fishing town anymore. The place to eat is The Boiling Pot.

Go down to the Congress bridge in the evening and watch the bats leave their colonies at dusk by their thousand. Don't miss this if you are in Austin.
