Manassas, Virginia.  This is the place where I spent ten years growing up.  As much as I like to move around now, I feel that it was a very good thing that we settled down in one place while I was going through my childhood and let me tell you, Manassas was quite the place to do it!
Manassas is a rather small down with only a few main roads.  Old Town Manassas is a pretty cool place to hang out and it's just what it sounds like; an old part of town with historical buildings predominately filled with interesting little shop and other sorts of facilities.
The scenery is lovely as well.  Manassas is certainly a town of four seasons, from the blistering humid summers to the snow blanketed winters.  In the fall the tree leaves turn every possible beautiful shade autumn colors and blossom vibrantly in the spring.  The Appellation Mountains can always be seen in distance, giving you the feeling of passion and security.  And then there is Splashdown Water Park, which is a perfect destination during the summer and ranks among some of the best water-parks along the east coast.
Then there's the Manassas National Battlefield Park.  For all you history fans out there, this is where the Battle of Bull Run was fought.  The Civil War battlefield is really amazing.  Not only is it giant, but it is now one big public park to go hiking in.  Not only that, but you can hike the paths the soldiers used during the Civil War, explore buildings used during the fighting, and visit the park information center for brochures, gift shop, and a movie.  All facilities and access to the park are public property and free of charge.  With forrest, ponds, streams, Civil War graveyards and cannons all over, Manassas National Battlefield Park is great for history lovers, the hiking hobbyist, for for a family and friends to place a game of freebie and enjoy a nice picnic.
