Travel Tips from people who've been to Arlington
The highlights at the Arlington National Cemetery included the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, The Eternal Flame, The Challenger Memorial, The USS Maine Memorial. All can best be seen from the TourMobile tram. it is pricey but well worth the price in the end particularly if you are oging to be in town for a few days. We did not get the tram for transportation purposes and only got the tour. Our feet and backs regretted that decision 10 fold later.
Visit the national cemtery and be prepared for some walking, the site is big. The guards at the tomb of the unknowns are a must, they have some fancy footwork. The views of the city are superb from several of the higher spots. One of the few places you can photograph the Pentagon without the police turning up to ask you what you are doing.
go to the Arlington Cemetery. it´s one of the most beautiful and at the same time sad places i´ve ever been too. its sadness is very calm, almost tenuous. just walk around and pay your respects to so many people who have died in way too many senseless wars. and of course don´t miss the kennedy memorial. it´s really moving and beautiful!
