Travel Tips from people who've been to Port Townsend
Cool little Victorian-era town up on the Olympic Peninsula. One of my personal favorite places to go up there is Fort Worden State Park. It's a World War I&II-era military installation (the movie "An Officer And A Gentleman" was filmed there). There are hiking trails all over the place there. There are old artillery bunkers down on the beach and up on the bluff above. Port Townsend also has a lot of arts-related stuff going on, lots of one-off shops... I could go on forever!
Fort Worden is a must-see of course... it dates to the 1890's. Also worth a visit in Port Townsend is Chetzemoka Park. It is a beautiful park with lots of trees and flowers, amazing views of the Sound and the Cascades, and beach access.
Full of friendly, industrious people. Restaurants are always good, and the homes out in the country are very cleverly designed.
