ADD TO LISTCheyenne isn't a particularly well-known destination within the United States, but it does receive a few travelers, most of whom make a brief stop to see the Frontier Days (Rodeo). Generally, travelers visiting the area tend to stick to more popular destinations. If you do travel to Cheyenne, please take some time to tell us about what you saw in this Cheyenne travel guide.
Travel Tips from people who've been to Cheyenne
Don't plan on staying long....not much to do!!
I grew up here. A nice place to visit in the spring and fall. Stay away during the winter. In the summer you have to visit during Cheyenne Frontier Days. At one time it was the world's largest outdoor rodeo. I don't know if it still is. It happens during the last full week of July. Great night shows where some country's biggest stars come out to perform.
Cheyenne didn't really appeal to me. If you have to drive on I-80 through Wyoming in the winter months, be prepared for whiteout conditions. If the weather gets too bad, the state will close the highway (they have stop arms that will swing down into the traffic lanes, not unlike the arms at a railroad crossing).
